This is the first Tor on the Western edge of Dartmoor a short drive out of Tavistock PL19 post code. There is a car park ( see bellow ) and a bit of a hike to the top of the Tor.The walk faces the Southern slope which is flyable with a small bowl evident as you walk up it .The SW slope is a shoulder on the left and the Western slope is accessed form the summit. On the far side is the Northern slope , which overlooks a farm with the NW to your left and the NE to your right. It is possible to fly NE - E but the slope is quite gentle and would need a warm day for thermal lift to assist.
Unfortunately being Dartmoor Granite rocks are plentiful so care needs to be used
.SW Slope..Good compression lift but nowhere to land nearby so you are forced to land out at the bottom straight ahead or towards the main car park.
West Slope . Plenty of height but somewhat more gentle really suits a larger span but good , safe landing on top..
NW Slope. Good but like the SW rocky ,however landing can be found behind you.
N Slope . I think the best good compression and soft , virtually granite free landing behind .NE as N less compression due to the gentler slope.

All in all a pretty good site although mentioned by the Dartmoor Soaring Club ( check their website ) it does not seem to be used by their members who tend to fly further over on Dartmoor ( Black Hill ) or on Chagford.

Access

There is a good , if slightly potted car park ( Pork Chop Hill ) just off the main road from here its a 10 minute walk to the top and another 10 to the North slope.
Free access to all and it is also possible to fly from the grassed area adjacent to the car park in a Westerly out over the valley . I managed to keep the Half Pipe up but it was blowing 25+
Hope this is useful....
