A popular site, due to a large stone wall which provides excellent respite from driving winter winds.
However, the gradient continues behind the main flying area, making landings less than ideal for the beginner pilot, albeit still manageable.
Access
Parking is past the white cottages, over the cattle grid on the right hand side. Be sure to leave plenty of access through the gate to the quarry as this is used frequently by the farmer.
"Overflow" parking is available in a lay-by just short of the white cottages.
Once parked, walk up the cement road before turning left into the quarry. Access to the flying site is available by climbing over the short wire fence at the far end of the quarry.
