Ivinghoe has slopes facing west, north, northeast and south. The slopes vary in steepness and so there is something at Ivinghoe for everyone. It works for a remarkable variety of winds: north, northeast, southeast, south, west and northwest, with west being the best. The only wind directions that do not work well at Ivinghoe are east and southwest.
Ivinghoe Beacon is National Trust land, and the Ivinghoe Soaring Association hold a license agreement with the NT that controls flying at the site. Visitors are welcomed, but BMFA insurance is required and the frequency control pegboard operated by the club must be used if flying on 35MHz. Electric power is not allowed, but you can tape the blades to the fuselage.

Access
The free NT car park is beside the north facing slope; all other slopes are 10-15 mins walk away. Unfortunately the (best) west face is the furthest away and the steepest climb!
